I have had over forty years experience in successfully treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with a wide range of populations including veterans from seven wars as well as vicitms of violence and abuse and people who experienced a wide range of traumatic events.   I found that the recovery process was remarkably similar for people with very different backgrounds and types of trauma.  I have spent of lot of time reflecting on what worked with these clients and have identified some simple principles that seem to be consistently effective.
