Chapter 1
How is tension created in your life? How are you different when you have more tension? How are you different when you have less tension?

Chapter 2
What is the role of perception in the most common stressors we face today?

Chapter 3
What are the actual threats in the most common stressors we face today?

What is one choice we can always make when facing stressors where it seems we have little control?

Chapter 4
What happens when we apply objective thinking to relationship stress?

How do our fears and expectations limit our perceptions?

How does knowing that our brain is always forming new pathways (rivers) or reinforcing old ones affect our day-to-day thoughts and routines?

How might broadening our perceptions affect common stressors we face today?  How could we view these situations differently?

In what areas of our lives can we establish habits of continual improvement?

Chapter 6
What are some of the indications that stress levels are rising?

Chapter 7
Think of a highly stressful event in your past for a minute or so.  Describe how that might have affected your breathing.

Chapter 8
Describe situations that were made worse by high levels of stress and tension.

Were any of the three characteristics of emotion surprising to you?

How do we teach children about emotion?

What is your experience of the relationship between stress and spirituality?

What is different in your life after practicing the balancing techniques for 10 days? How can you fit these techniques into your daily routine?

Chapter 14
Think of recent times you have seen people cry.  Did it seem like they tensed up while crying?  If so, how did they do this?

What makes it difficult to accept emotional pain?

Can you think of a situation where thoughts fed emotions?

What makes anger different from other emotions?  How do people tend to react to anger?

Think of a time when you or someone you know was frustrated.  What were the expectations that led to that frustration.  How could they have viewed the situation differently.

How are emotions different when stress and tension are building?

How would our world be different if thankfulness, forgiveness, compassion and humility were more highly valued?

Are they times you may have applied one or more of the ABC’s of Stress Management to deal with a potentially stressful situation?  Describe what you did and the result.
